Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) is a devastating disease and it kills indiscriminately. According to World Health Organization (WHO) statistics, since the outbreak of EVD in 2014, over 1000 individuals and almost 100 health care workers have died. These figures are suspected of being conservative as thorough reporting and recording is unlikely in many of the rural areas of the Sub-Saharan. These figures have however, created fear and concern among the communities as they have seen their neighbors succumb to this disease.
Ignorance and impatience are among the most common ways health care workers are getting infected. We want to make sure that bio-hazard gear, rubber boots, safety goggles, masks, rubber aprons and full body suits are available and that they know how to use it. We want to keep those on the front line of this outbreak and alive and well.
